Part of what makes FirePro 2
so great is the people behind the program!
Doug
Doug
is the man behind Ingenuious Software having started the company
in 1984 -- later developing FirePro 2 in Bracebridge, Ontario
in 1991.
Doug grew up in Toronto, lived in Muskoka for 8 years, then moved
to Nelson with his wife and 2 children in 1997.
The lifestyle and countryside
in the Kootenays certainly suits Doug as he is somewhat addicted
to mountain biking (huffing & puffing up the mountain with
the bike and then heading down the grotty trails, rock drops and
small structures). In the winter he can't get enough skiing --
be it alpine, telemark, back-country, cross country or skate skiing.
When the opportunity presents itself, Doug loves to travel too.
His big trip last year was to India.

Christine
Christine
joined Ingenious Software in 2004 and provides programming and
technical support.
Christine lives in Nelson with her
2 children Jesse and Allysa. They also share their home with a
dog, a cat, 2 frogs and a fish!
Born and raised in Calgary, she moved to Nelson in 2000. Before
coming to Ingenious Software, she worked as a receptionist, and
studied Computer Information Systems at Selkirk College.
Many of her Sundays are spent at her church where she is in charge
of scheduling for the nursery and is often taking care of the
little ones.
In her spare time, which she says she doesn't have that much of,
she enjoys gardening (until the wasps start appearing!). She also
likes to take her dog out for a good run. A fair amount of time
is spent playing board games with Jesse and Allysa -- Busy Bodies
and Cadoo are among the favorites.

Lawson
Lawson provides programming
and technical support for FirePro 2.
Born in Winlaw (about
a half hour outside Nelson), Lawson moved to Nelson in 2001. He
lives with his 9 year old daughter, Jade, who is quite a delight
and keeps him quite busy! They have two fat cats who Lawson says
obsess about empty food dishes.
In his spare time,
he enjoys "geeking out" on the computer and checking
out the latest books, comics, and movies. Cooking new things without
recipes is also a hobby of his and he claims he's successful most
of the time! He describes himself generally as a stay at home
kind of guy.
Before joining Ingenious Software,
he did GIS consulting work, and also worked as a system administrator/GIS
technician.

Jeremy
Jeremy
provides front line support and training for FirePro 2.
Jeremy is from Nelson (another local!), but has certainly had
some adventures before joining us here.
After completing 2 degrees at the University of Victoria (English
Literature and Classical Studies), he spent some time cooking
his way through South America, Australia, Europe, Africa, and
Alaska – he cooked to earn his traveling money and says
he is pretty good at it too! He also worked as a tour guide in
Alaska, the BC Rockies and the Yukon.
Upon his return to Nelson, he managed a call centre, worked as
a teller at the Royal Bank, and provided computer training &
tech support to the Kootenay Real Estate board.
Jeremy and his wife live in Nelson.
In his spare time, he enjoys camping, canoeing, hiking, mountain
biking, and reading a good novel. Jeremy is also a volunteer firefighter
- you can look at his blog
to read about his adventures in firefighting.

Anne
Anne
is the Administrative Assistant at Ingenious Software.
Anne was born and raised in Nelson, and
has lived here most of her life.
After taking Business Administration at
Selkirk College in Castlegar, Anne worked for BCTel (now Telus)
in the Vancouver Area for 5 years in their Customer Service and
Accounting departments. Upon moving back to the Kootenays, she
worked for West Kootenay Power (Now FortisBC) in Corporate Customer
Service and was responsible for customer service training, the
company's web site, and service policies and procedures among
other things. When her department moved to Alberta, she opted
not to go. One very good thing about her time there is that was
where she met her husband as he also worked for the company (and
still does).
Anne and her husband and young son enjoy camping and golfing
in the summer and cross country skiing in the winter. Photography
is also a big interest, and her son is one of her favourite subjects.
While she seems to do her fair share of travelling, she has never
been out of North America and swears someday she is going to take
a trip to Italy.
When she is not at Ingenious Software,
she is working in her clothing store in Downtown Nelson (Annie's
Boutique) and on her websites.
